Full Steam Ahead

I’m back in the saddle again.

Following delivery of Amy’s notes and edits on the manuscript last weekend, we then exchanged some long emails addressing various matters arising.  That was followed by two long telephone conversations towards the end of last week.  Result: we have agreed what needs to be changed in the book.  Amy’s suggestions were inspired.  Some of the modifications are very subtle; others more radical.  But they will all help to make it a better book.

After all the years I’ve spent working on the manuscript alone, it is a joy to be able to collaborate with someone – especially someone as astute and savvy as Amy.  Of course, after a few weeks of wandering around with my head in the clouds, now comes the hard work.  I have to knuckle down and make all the revisions we’ve talked about.  So it’s back to the five o’clock starts for the next several months.

Needless to say, it’s much easier to haul myself out of bed and switch on the computer knowing that there’s a point to it all.  If I knew how to do those irritating smiley-faced emoticons, I might be tempted to add one here.
