This evening we are having a small party at our home to say goodbye to two of our dearest friends who are breaking our hearts by moving away from Columbia, to Washington D.C.  David is a proper blogger – he is the managing editor of the excellent Talking Points Memo – and he is relocating to open up their Washington office, damn him.  Anyway.  Five couples (all married) and their kids are coming, and at some point yesterday Christina realized that of the ten adults who will be there, only she and I share the same last name.  How irredeemably bourgeois we felt.  She tried valiantly to argue that we were so conventional that we were unconventional, but I’m not buyin’.
